Max the Movie Guy added 1 item to My trips to the cinema 2021 list
SCREENING: Regular
DATE: September 24th
CINEMA: Curzon
LOCATION: Soho
NOTE: Rented this film for the premium price on iTunes US (which I hate to do) when the fate of its UK distribution was uncertain, just so I could have its hashtags muted for one month less. The difference in scale between a first-time TV viewing and in Curzon Sohoโs first screen was, of course, stark.

NOTES: Gorgeously printed by CPC London, and unlike their Uncut Gems print came complete with (white) cue marks. Also opened on the Sky Original logo, which was one of the weirdest things Iโve ever seen on celluloid.

NOTES: Screened on the closing night of the Open City Documentary Festival, introduced by film essayist Erika Balsom. Scratchy as one may expect, many lines, dangling specks of dust and patches of filth throughout, though not enough to completely deteriorate the imagery. Serious damage on the first minute, some mild but prominent damage occurred midway through the second sky and a hair stuck to the left of the projector midway through the ninth sky, temporarily gathering specks of dust from that point. All this added an extra layer to the experience, to not just observe the transforming skies but the art of celluloid imperfections. At its most potent, the film grain caused a ripple effect so much as to give the impression of looking down, as if the sky was reflected by a stream of water rained down upon.
