Polaroid
[youtube id=WzJp0vt4vaY] Trailer debut: June 29th 2017 Original release: August 25th 2017 New release: October 11th 2019 Difference: 778 days Between trailer and release: 866 days Reasons: Was rescheduled for the holiday season to make room for Leap, but when allegations against Harvey Weinstein started to break through and brother Bob reshaped TWC into Lantern Entertainment, the film was pulled off the schedule, only to be released in Germany on January 10th 2019, followed by a digital release in the US on September 17th and a limited theatrical run a month later. Benefits: Harvey got what he deserved, even if America is too misogynistic and stupid to make it the rest of his life in prison. Flaws: It's still an awfully long time, even if it wasn't as brutal a delay as Amityville: The Awakening.

Hello, Dolly!
FORMAT: 70mm CONDITION: ★★★★½ NOTES: An incredible, pristine print, screened as part of the Musicals season and only attended because Mum’s one of the film’s biggest fans, even if it wasn’t without glitches that held me back from giving it a perfect score. The changeover when Cornelius and Barnaby visit the dress shop bleeds through the last few frames of the previous reel, and the next changeover switches with a literal flash. This overlaying happened again when Dolly entered the restaurant, and before Horace proposes to Dolly. Some shot transitions involved the last frame of shot A being slashed at the bottom, but only when Gussie says “join” is the audio affected in some way, and only after the intermission are there clear signs of actual dirt/damage, and these only happen as Dolly descends down the stairs and numerous times when we return to Yonkers before the final reel. During the brawl at the restaurant, the projectionist was apparently late, so we had to wait a minute before they came back and rolled the last two reels. This is the first time I’ve seen anything like this happen in all my years of watching celluloid. DATE: November 3rd 2019 CINEMA: BFI LOCATION: Southbank

Casper
FORMAT: 35mm CONDITION: ★★★★ NOTES: First reel had a few drawbacks - a slice-cut during a shot of a car, what looked like a changeover but wasn’t and an actual changeover that took several frames off after the first cue mark. The audio was noticeably fuzzy both scenes in which Casper asked Kat “Can I keep you?” Otherwise, a surprisingly fine print for what it’s worth.
