Max the Movie Guy added 1 item to Films I've seen on celluloid in the digital era list
FORMAT: 35mm
CONDITION: ★★★★½
NOTES: Replacing the feature presentation ident was a bittersweet, pre-recorded thank you from Edgar Wright, lamenting another dark period for the arts especially his favourite cinema that only just reopened on the 13th of last month. The print was just what I wanted from Wright on film; changeovers didn’t age brilliantly (changeover cues were white rings almost shaped like lips) and there were two frame chops when Shaun and Ed were deciding which record to weaponise, but a great-looking print otherwise.

FORMAT: 35mm
CONDITION: ★★★½
NOTES: Director’s cut. One of the changeovers, which would cut off a few frames and a second of audio, had three changeover cues! A green ring down the right centre, a cigarette burn and another green ring. At times dusty to the point where you’d think it came from 1973, but these are just a few faults worth noting.

NOTES: Couldn’t exactly tell which cut was being presented, as the logo for the German distributor followed the rating card instead of Metrodome’s. But given the length of the sex scene, this was probably the 92-minute cut? The dust was occasionally unnoticeable, and although the changeovers were so filthy you could hear it and resulted in the opening frame being taken off course, they did virtually nothing to diminish the film’s length.

FORMAT: 35mm

NOTES: Presented as a week-long engagement for its 20th anniversary. A dozen vertical scratches the whole way through as in Pulp Fiction and a noticeably bluer tint throughout the final act, but the print otherwise looked good! The changeovers weren’t even that dirty, and best of all did not cut anything whatsoever; this film perfectly maintained its original length.

NOTES: It’s quite dusty, several frames are bumped and at a couple of minutes does it lose stability. And it’s still a crisp print! The shakiness aside from those two scenes is hardly noticeable, and the cutaways barely trim the film. Felt almost like seeing it in 1993.
