Max the Movie Guy added 1 item to Movies according to my dreams list
Has a plot that reads like a direct-to-video sequel but at least is backed up by more or less the same visual panache (albeit on a very white background). Was slated to be released in April 2020, but due to the coronavirus Sony had no choice but to roll with the premiere but then release it on YouTube for free two weeks early. Just an hour later, however, the video was pulled and the theatrical release was delayed until August.

Trailer debut: December 4th 2019
Original release: April 2nd 2020 (UK), April 10th 2020 (US)
New release: November 12th 2020 (UK), November 25th 2020 (US)
Difference: 225 days (UK), 230 days (US)
Between trailer and release: 345 days (UK), 358 days (US)
Reasons: Due to the worldwide coronavirus outbreak at the time, and demand from Bond fansites, the studios and producers had no choice but to delay the release to benefit the safety of mainstream cinemagoers. A Chinese premiere and publicity tour were planned for April before the outbreak.
Benefits: If anything, fans of James Bond deserve to take care of themselves and not harm others during a pandemic, and a major franchise blockbuster being released at the time of the outbreak will only worsen the situation. It's a deadly pandemic, and hopefully we will all be safe by the time this film finally opens.
Flaws: Publicity was already at a high for this film before the delay was placed. Billie Ellish's theme song for the film had already surfaced in February, it was already heavily promoted at conventions in London, and to make matters more infurating, pre-booking had already opened the very week of its delay. In addition, MGM spent $60 million on the film's Superbowl spot. Even if it was for a good cause, it still bears the largest marketing campaign for a film preceding its delay.
