Sergeant Rutledge
FORMAT: 35mm CONDITION: โ˜…โ˜… NOTES: Screened as part of the Black Rodeo season. The print was imported from the Swedish Film Institute complete with Swedish subtitles, as the print they intended to import from the US was in even worse condition. Nonetheless, while this printโ€™s playback is mostly adequate and its colours not worn at all, the subtitles suggest that certain lines of dialogue have been cut out by damaged reel ends, the picture is horribly worn and the first reel suffers an issue in which the projectionist found it tough to keep it in focus. Vertigo (1958)
FORMAT: 35mm CONDITION: โ˜…โ˜…ยฝ NOTES: 1996/7 restoration, cutting out the UIP logo but not the Universal logo. Fairly faded but not enough to diminish the reds or greens, significantly worn and has lost several frames. The changeovers are irregularly placed, damaged and ruinous, truncating a few seconds out of each scene. Itโ€™s not quite VistaVision, but it sure sounds that way.
