FORMAT: 35mm CONDITION: ★★½ NOTES: Another Scala highlight, introduced by former Scala cinema staffer Jane Giles and presented with a 35mm trailer for Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill! and a VHS transfer of Jo Menell’s aptly titled Scala favourite, Dick. Has very much faded over the years, in the sixth reel most of all, and stutters at the midpoint in the second reel. The projector was fighting for its life trying to get the first ten minutes of the film and the first two minutes of the third reel in focus. DATE: January 13th 2024 CINEMA: BFI LOCATION: Southbank

The only occasions when it looks significantly worn are when Duncan transports Bella over to the ship, Alfie confronting his dead wife at her wedding and the beginning of the credits.
