Starts off impressively, although the issues commence in the second reel which for the most part is covered in trailing lines, and some signs of damage are present from the point when Morris visits Ellen!Annabel. FORMAT: 35mm CONDITION: ★★★★ NOTES: Screened as part of Be Gay, Do Crime, a series that is exactly what it sounds like, presented with a pre-recorded intro by critic Xuanlin Tham. Was supposed to screen with a pre-recorded intro by another trans critic in April 2020 as part of a series tying into the would-be theatrical release Promising Young Woman, but has been kept away in the archive ever since. And it shows, because the print is sharp, thunderous and in tip-top condition despite a couple of missing frames. DATE: August 1st 2023 CINEMA: BFI LOCATION: Southbank
