FORMAT: 35mm CONDITION: ★★★★★ NOTES: Now this print must have been sourced from the original release, and it is surprisingly excellently preserved; hardly any any dust present most of the time, and it is usually barely noticeable when it is. Plays smoothly, colours are perfect. Only problem is that the film suddenly got burned midway by a couple of actual gremlins, and they played shadow puppets in the projection booth before loading an obscure, vintage nude film? At least Hulk Hogan of all people was there to sort things out, hope the projectionist is alright… DATE: December 14th 2022 CINEMA: The Prince Charles Cinema LOCATION: West End

FORMAT: 35mm CONDITION: ★★★★ NOTES: Japan Foundation print, screened as part of In Dreams are Monsters. A gorgeous and perfectly arranged print that is close to authentic; each segment ends by changing over to the next reel. Shame that the final reel of ‘Hoichi the Earless’ was projected slightly out of focus. Three of the reels change a quarter-second late, and the second reel of ‘In a Cup of Tea’ starts off unstable until the first line of dialogue is spoken.
