FORMAT: 35mm CONDITION: ★★★★½ NOTES: One of the Disney season’s hottest attractions, preceded by my second BFI Southbank viewing of Brian Menz’s Short Circuit project, Just a Thought. First reel looks sparkly clean, the rest looks slightly less so but astonishing nonetheless. The third reel begun off position and the fifth was projected out of focus, but both were fixed within seconds. A hard cut occurs between scenes when Keyes returns to tell Caprice about the The Blank’s offer. DATE: August 25th 2023 CINEMA: BFI LOCATION: Southbank

[youtube id=Way9Dexny3w] Trailer debut: May 3rd 2023 Original release: November 3rd 2023 New release: March 15th 2024 Difference: 134 days Between trailer and release: 318 days Reasons: So that the studios and the AMPTP can continue to deny writers and actors fair pay. Benefits: Absolutely none. This delay benefits nobody. Flaws: David Zaslav would rather send all that money away for a worthless, illogical, selfish delay than offer some of it to the people who need it most.

FORMAT: 35mm CONDITION: ★★★½ NOTES: Was supposed to attend in 2021, but had to control myself, so this has obviously been slightly worn a few more times since then. Diagonal scratches, a hint of fade throughout and numerous cuts in the opening ten minutes, but nothing serious otherwise. Besides, a film like this calls for such faults. FORMAT: 35mm CONDITION: ★★★½ NOTES: Preserved in the ICA’s archive. Beneath all the scratches, and the trailing lines that only seemed to overlap the first two circus performances, this print looked magical, as it ought to given its lack of commercial availability. After the third reel, a little hiccup saw the fourth projected in noticeably less focus in the centre than the previous ones, and slightly off position. The rest of the print saw the projectionist wrestling to get it positioned properly and in the correct focus again. DATE: August 13th 2023 CINEMA: ICA LOCATION: The Mall
